Patrice Omandam

Patrice is a Bay-Area based photographer since the age of 14 when she first got exposed to photography by her cousin doing portraits and macro photography. As she grew into her craft, she's experimented with black and white photography, as well as, color film photography and digital medium format styles. Her work focuses on portraiture and landscapes, while experimenting with different ways to interpret color in her work. Her goal with photography is to change people’s feelings and perspectives on photographs of themselves, as well as, challenge her viewers to interpret her uses of color. She is currently receiving her BFA in photography at California State University, East Bay.

My vision has been exploring the idea of color, as a whole and how we feel about it when we see it in different versions or mediums. When color is purposely thrown on or be a part of a photograph it gives it a different purpose and I have been fascinated with the power of color since then. The challenge I imposed on myself with my photographs is how do I interpret color and see how my viewers will feel about the color they are looking at and the overall photograph.
